Vintage single 1955 Illinois License Plate 5 digit 58 760 / short 9.75” long

For your consideration is a single 1955 Illinois automobile license plate number 58 760.
Below the five digit “58 760” is “Land of Lincoln”.
The l
ow 5 digits resulted in a shorter plate and this vintage 1955 plate is approximately 9-3/4” long x 5-3/4”.
Up to and including 1955, in Illinois the number of digits on a license plate determined its length.
Prefixes and suffixes in front or behind the digits would extend the length.
In 1956 the size was standardized to 6” x 12“ long.
The steel plate has the original finish and is not a repaint.
It has a wear, aging, dents, and a couple of rock dings.
For 1955 orange on blue was chosen by the Illinois Secretary of State's Office for the colors of Illinois license plates to honor The University of Illinois.
