    Description

It is with a heavy heart that I am putting this doll up for sale.  My mom got this doll in the early 1930's.  She was with her until she was 92.  Mom's story was that she was offered a Shirley Temple doll but liked Wallace Beery the movie star and wanted the Carol Ann doll.  She was his daughter.  I am unsure if the outfit is original.  There is one little black shoe that Mom saved that she said was original.  She took her to a doll expert in Omaha in the 1980's and had her get her a new pair of shoes and socks.  Her right foot is broken off and badly repaired, but the toe is there.  Her hands also show wear.  See photos.  The wig is original and has some wear in the back.  Braid is original.  Her eyes look cloudy to me but I don't remember them every looking different.  She has some various surface cracks that are common for composition dolls.  Because of these flaws, she is being sold as-is.  She would be an excellent candidate for a professional restoration.  I was told by a doll expert that she was actually made on a Shirley Temple Body but a different wig and clothing were put on her to make her the Carol Ann. Back of her head says "Petite" and very very lightly says "Sally".  The doll expert thought she was made by the American Character Doll Company.  I am not a doll collector and she has been sitting in a bag since my mom died in 2017.   She needs someone who will love her as much as my Mom did.
