    Description

This handsome happy fellow is a rare Unica Liberation Dutchman peasant doll. I say rare because this is one model seldom found.   Unica Liberation dolls were made from 1945 to 1947.
The Unica doll company released dolls to commemorate and celebrate several countries when those countries were released of their capture by German troops during WW2*.
This doll stands 14 inches tall and is tightly stuffed with straw. He is made of cloth and the article in last photo says painted bisque heads but I believe he is composition and cloth like the others I have owned.
He is quite debonair with the chin dimple, wavy locks and happy face.
His pipe is replaced with one I made for him in clay - it will not be glued in mouth hole, just in the event someone has the original pipe. it will come in a little box, (to be secure would need to be glued in - as it just sits in the mouth hole not tightly).
His brass buttons are also replaced with old brass buttons because his were missing, just the stitch holes where they had been showed the placement.
His shoes are wood clogs.  In some of my pics he stands alone though I would not display him like that he is safer leaning or with a stand. The last two pictures are:  1) black and white - Unica historical photo of Unica Liberation dolls (where you can see him at the top left)  and 2) front page of a magazine article featuring these dolls (nothing in the last 2 photos is included- shown for informational purposes)
