ORIGINAL - WW2 GERMAN REICHSMARSCHALL HERMANN GOERRING EPAULET - G.I. PICKUP c1946RARE. G.I.'s SOUVENIR PICKUP EPAULET FOUND MARCH 1946 AT THE RUINS OF THE HOME OF WW2 GERMAN REICHSMARSCHALL HERMANN GOERRING DURING WW2, NAMED ' CARINHALL '. THE G.I. PLACED THE EPAULET AND A STICKPIN (NOT PRESENT OR INCLUDED) INTO A REPURPOSED WW2 US ARMY ENVELOPE (USED FOR REQUESTING MEDAL RIBBON SETS) FOR A SAFE RIDE BACK TO THE STATES. THE ORIGINAL EPAULET SURVIVES BUT THE STICKPIN DOES NOT. Â YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE G.I. ROUGHLY PENCILS THE DESCRIPTION AND THE PLACE THEY WERE FOUND ON THE ONLY ENVELOPE HE COULD PROCURE AT THE TIME. HE THEN LATER REWROTE HIS PENCILED DESCRIPTION IN FOUNTAIN PENNED BLOCK LETTERING ADDING A FEW NEW DETAILS OF HIS FINDING THE CONTENTS. PLEASE EXCUSE HIS INCORRECT SPELLING OF THE
REICHSMARSCHALL 'S NAME.
CONDITION OF THE
6 1/8" X 4 1/4" OPEN END
ENVELOPE IS VERY FINE WITH AGE CONSISTANT WITH ITS 76 YEARS, LIGHT HANDLING AND A FEW FOLD LINES.
