Sometimes referred to as “bean plates”
Between 1943-48 these rare soybean based fiber plates were used so metal could be directed to the was effort.
Goats were rumored to find these delicious‼️
I have not tried to clean these as I didn’t want to ruin patina in any way.
Off white lettering and hunter green background.
11-3/8” X 5-1/2”
No damage, just two washer marks on each where they were bolted on.
Secretary of State sent out letters to explain these plates to drivers at the time.
